Based on the acclaimed novel by Bobbie Ann Mason, IN COUNTRY is a powerful portrait of one Kentucky family’s struggle to heal the wounds caused by America's involvement in Vietnam, as seen through the experiences of a teenage girl (Emily Lloyd). In attempting to learn more about her father, a young soldier who was killed in the war before she was born, she tries to break through to her reclusive, cynical uncle (Bruce Willis), a ravaged survivor of the undeclared conflict, who may well be the only person able to truly help her understand her loss.
