Marighella

This electrifying portrait of Brazilian revolutionary leader Carlos Marighella—which ignited a firestorm of controversy in Brazil, where it faced two years of censorship battles during the far-right presidency of Jair Bolsonaro—unfolds in the 1960s as he founds the Marxist-Leninist guerrilla organization Ação Libertadora Nacional in opposition to the repressive military dictatorship. As Marighella leads increasingly daring acts of resistance, he becomes the number-one target of the state. Featuring a commanding performance from Seu Jorge as Marighella, the explosive directorial debut from actor Wagner Moura (NARCOS, THE SECRET AGENT) is a riveting political thriller with a galvanizing antiauthoritarian punch.
