THE RINK, the eighth of twelve films Charlie Chaplin made for the Mutual Film Corporation, premiered in December 1916. In this popular two-reeler, Chaplin, as the Tramp, plays a waiter with unique tableside skills. It’s at the roller-skating rink, however, showing off his footwork on wheels, that he truly delivers.
