Joss Whedon brings a feisty screwball energy to this sly and sexy modern update of Shakespeare’s classic romantic comedy. A delightful ensemble cast embodies the coterie of lovers and schemers who converge at a home in Southern California (Whedon’s own, in fact) where romance, intrigue, deception, and much mirth are the order of the day. The film’s contemporary SoCal setting and relaxed, almost home-movie-like intimacy infuse the Bard’s double-entendre-laced dialogue with a new freshness and sparkle.
