When a young janitor (William Hurt) finds a dead body in his building, he convinces a local television reporter with whom he is infatuated (Sigourney Weaver) that he knows more about the killing than he actually does in order to get close to her. Soon, the unlikely pair find themselves embroiled in a dangerous investigation in this entertainingly offbeat mystery, distinguished by its sharply drawn characters, flashes of wit, and by the crackling chemistry between stars Hurt and Weaver.
