Joan Micklin Silver’s wonderfully, warmly Jewish spin on the romantic comedy follows literary, uptown-dwelling Manhattanite Izzy Grossman (a luminous Amy Irving), who finds herself caught between the worldly European poet (Jeroen Krabbé) she’s enamored with and the humble pickle salesman (Peter Riegert) her matchmaking Lower East Side Bubbie (a scene-stealing Reizl Bozyk) foists upon her.
