The Burial of Kojo

A profusion of dazzling, magical-realist images grace the visually and emotionally stunning debut feature from musician turned filmmaker Blitz Bazawule. Through the eyes of Esi (Cynthia Dankwa)—a young girl growing up in a small village in Ghana where corruption and economic exploitation leave everyday people to struggle—we experience her memories of her loving but unreliable father Kojo (Joseph Otsiman). As she recounts a daring quest to rescue him from an illegal mine shaft, reminiscences mingle with dreams, fantasies, and visions for an extraordinary Afrofuturist fable of bewitching imagination.
