Jean Harlow is irresistible in this Depression-era tale of working girls setting out to make it in the big city. Tired of small-town life, Cassie Barnes (Harlow) heads for the glamour of New York, where she takes a room with the wisecracking Dot (Marie Prevost) and reconnects with her old friend Gladys (Mae Clark), who is living in luxury on Park Avenue courtesy of her rich but married boyfriend. As Cassie makes her way through the worlds of work and love, she learns the hard way about how to get ahead in the Big Apple.
