In 1945, Philippe Devillers was assigned as press attaché to French General Philippe Leclerc and concurrently acted as the Indochina correspondent for “Le monde.” Devillers, who authored several books on Vietnam, was critical of French and American policies in Vietnam and here discusses the misconceptions he believes both countries perpetuated.
