Based on the humorous memoir by Betty MacDonald, this diverting fish-out-of-water comedy casts frequent screen partners Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray as a pair of Manhattan newlyweds who get a serious dose of culture shock when he enthusiastically purchases an upstate farm in the hopes of cleaning up in the egg business—leading to a host of complications both practical and marital as they attempt to adjust to life in the country.
