Captured by filmmaker Barnaby Clay in spectral black and white at Los Angeles’s Orpheum Theatre, HIDDEN IN PIECES makes the historic venue—and seemingly its ghosts—a character unto itself, interspersing dreamlike vignettes with a transcendent performance by the band in radiant form. Singer Karen O’s regally self-possessed, almost otherworldly presence casts a transfixing spell that reaches its crescendo with a movingly meditative, introspective rendition of the band’s signature song, “Maps.”
